I've watched another warping video but yours was a bit more in depth. I play 90s jungle dnb and uk garage which are mainly vinyl rips as not many digital releases were made of these, and even though they are DAW made some of those tunes (more the jungle ones) have some shaky drum programming when trying to fit samples in. 😂😂

Hello Mark, just found your video, as a old DJ but new to abelton this should be just what I need, I’ve been trying to warp my 80s tracks as in other vids, but those don’t really work for my genre, and is quite frustrating, I don’t know if you’re still DJING as the vid is 5 years old, but just wanted to said thanks.

Is it necessary to warp the entire song or would it make sense to just warp the points you would transition? Variance in rhythm is part of what makes music groovy, but transitioning is where you want those kicks to align.

ive just burned my first cd, its not come up with track names as i put DJ Mix CD (Uplifting Trance) in CD TEXT ive probbilly done this wrong but with playing around i should concore this problem

Thank buddy your a star, ive just tried this with windows media burner, luckily ive named all the markers/tracks however when you drag tracks in sometimes the tracks are in wrong order but if you sort that out its kool, Had to get another burner because windows media player burner is stupid

2023..still the best video for this task...so well done Mark great stuff Just been checking out serato and virtual dj and gotta say 20 years after first seeing what ableton could do im amazed at how poor the dj gear is when it comes to this feature..i imagine the different companies dont wanna step on each others toes...or probly owned by the same company and wanna keep the features spread out..🤔 came back to look if there was any easier way to do it but obviously not

10:33: When I have Maschine and Ableton playing together, Maschine Studio's tempo syncs perfectly with Ableton's clock. BUT, when I export a track from Maschine into Ableton Live 11 via audio (exactly following your steps), the audio file becomes out of sync in Ableton and plays at a different tempo. Both DAW's are set to 44,100 @ 64-bit. Contrailily, when I follow the same exact proceedure (exporting a track from Maschine into Cubase 11 via audio), no problems - they are perfectly in sync. Why is this happening?

As a jock of well over 40 yrs allow a bit of constructive criticism.. After players association the mix was superb..👏👏👏👏 But before the mixes between the tracks lost energy... Play these in a club and it would lose the floor.. Great tracks individually but losing energy... After like i said absolute banging mix

Look at the bpm of A taste of honey Boogie Oogie Oogie.. Starts of about 125 and goes up n down,down and up.. its all over the place.. So either you gotta be a top mixer to do it well....or warp . My Good friend Panotaker was the pioneer of Warping. He said it takes absolute ages to do.. P.s Your not by any chance Mark Arnold from Bristol

I was already fairly familiar with warping but I picked up some great tips here, particularly regarding the arrow key shortcut for shifting the location of the active loop and holding the shift key to adjust the position of a transient marker - thanks!

My god, I have been contemplating putting together a mixable retro '80s collection for years, but had no idea how to go about warping these songs. Even synth-tunes using drum machines can be off tempo, as often these songs would be edited by splicing sections of multi-track tape recordings together, and the cuts were rarely dead-nuts accurate. This is so, so helpful. Thank you Mark-subscribed!

Who was the host in red?

I have coded an automatic solution that does the work without the heavy manual work (with rubberband as a time stretcher and classic beat detection with librosa). So easy to mix vinyl tracks now ;)

I know that I'm late to the party, but this is exactly what I was looking for. As an open format DJ, this tutorial is a lifesaver. I just followed the video step by step and made the drums more consistent on "You Should Be Dancing" by The Bee Gees. Having this knowledge will expand my playlist and allow me to remix / mashup tracks much better than before! Great job.
